Penetration and Outlook of Telework in Europe - An Internet Snapshot

Applications of telecommunications and information technologies impact many areas of life. Especially telework is an application area, which still possesses a large growth potential. It is developing rapidly and today there are already more than 2 million Europeans who practice telework. This paper sums up the results of an internet research on telework activities in Europe. This survey is embedded in the COBIP-Project of the European Union (EU). The survey’s aim was to gather up-to-date information about telework-related projects in Europe. After a short historical introduction the actual penetration of telework will be analyzed based mainly on an internet research. These analyses will make it possible to predict the near future of telework.
